SEC Chairman to Speak at Annual Securities Law Conference

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox will address corporate counsel and firm practitioners from across the country at an annual securities regulation conference sponsored by Northwestern University School of Law.

The 33rd Annual Securities Regulation Institute will take place January 18-20, 2006, at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, Calif.

This continuing legal education program offers corporate and securities lawyers a timely analysis of recent laws and developments in the securities law field. Chairman Cox, a former congressman from California, was sworn in as the SEC's 28th Chairman in August. He will share his agenda for the SEC and his views on addressing the current challenges facing the securities industry during a luncheon speech on Thursday, Jan. 19.

Other senior SEC officials will also be on hand throughout the conference to present current updates from the commission. Some of those attending will include Director of the Division of Enforcement, Linda Chatman Thomsen; Director of the Division of Corporation Finance, Alan L. Beller; and the General Counsel and Chief Accountant for the SEC.

The Institute is part of Northwestern University School of Law's continued efforts to build upon the strengths of its nationally prominent continuing legal education program by addressing evolving concerns of today's legal and business worlds.
