ILLINOIS GOV. GEORGE RYAN TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS FOR PUBLIC INTEREST LAW WEEK
Illinois Gov. George Ryan will honor Northwestern Law faculty, students, and volunteer lawyers during the Law
School's Tenth Annual Public Interest Law Week. Ryan will deliver a keynote address to honor those who have spent
the past decade uncovering wrongful convictions and transforming the public debate about the death penalty and the
criminal justice system. His address, which is open to the public, will take place at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, November

RUDER'S CORPORATE COUNSEL INSTITUTE KEYNOTE ADDRESS AVAILABLE ONLINE
David S. Ruder, former SEC chairman and former dean of Northwestern Law, delivered the keynote address entitled
"Lessons from Enron: Director and Lawyer Monitoring Responsibilities" at the 41st Annual Corporate Counsel

HON. RICHARD POSNER, FINAL CONSTITUTIONAL LAW COLLOQUIUM PRESENTER
Hon. Richard Posner, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, will deliver the final presentation for this
fall's Constitutional Law Colloquium on November 21. His paper "Law, Pragmatism, and Democracy" is available

Public Interest Law Week introduces students and legal professionals to the opportunities and challenges of public

misconduct, lawyering for the government, pro bono work, and wrongful convictions. This year's Public Interest Law

Silent Auction to Benefit Student Funded Public Interest Fellowships, November 14, 2002, Law School, 6 p.m.
Public Interest Law Week activities will end with a silent auction and reception to benefit the Student Funded Public
Interest Fellowships. SFPIF, a non-profit organization run entirely by Northwestern law students, is dedicated to
funding law students working in unpaid positions at public interest organizations during the summer.
Center on Wrongful Convictions Annual Benefit Dinner, November 21, 2002, Westin River North Hotel, Chicago
Florida public defenders Ann E. Finnel and Patrick McGuinness, who were featured in the Academy Award-winning
documentary "Murder on a Sunday Morning," will deliver the keynote address at the annual benefit dinner for the Center
on Wrongful Convictions.
