Dateline Special Recounts Ryan's Clemency Announcement at Northwestern Law
NBC News' "Dateline" will air the documentary feature "Deadline" during a two-hour prime-time special on Friday, July 30, at 8 p.m.  The Center on Wrongful Convictions recently hosted the premiere at the Gene Siskel Film Center. "Deadline" recounts Illinois Gov. George Ryan's unprecedented decision to issue a blanket clemency for all Illinois death row inmates during his final days in office. Attorneys and law students from the Children and Family Justice Center of the Bluhm Legal Clinic filed two amicus briefs with the U.S. Supreme Court on July 19 calling the juvenile death penalty unconstitutional under the Eighth Amendment. More...
